As I bid farewell to my trusted and valued staff member Veronica Mackey, who served INGLEWOOD TODAY and the citizens of Inglewood, the Airport Area, Baldwin Hills, Crenshaw/Los Angeles, and Ladera Heights, for over 18 years, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Francis Taylor to the position of Assistant Editor.

Veronica has done a fantastic job and has contributed substantially to the growth and health of INGLEWOOD TODAY.  She has decided to pursue her dream of helping small business owners and entrepreneurs launch their new enterprises, and I wish her well.

Taylor is a seasoned news writer, having won a Journalism Award of Excellence, from the Miller, A. Phillip Randolph Messenger Awards, as a writer for the Los Angeles Sentinel. He brings a broad business background to INGLEWOOD TODAY.

Taylor graduated from an HBCU – Hampton University and was honorably discharged from the United States Army as a Captain following the Vietnam War. He is most proud of his experience travelling the world selling candy, marketing the Walt Disney World Monorail to the City of Atlanta, recruiting the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games Staff, and as the publicist for Mrs. Sammy Davis, Jr., to name only a few.

As a 25-year Inglewood resident, I look forward to the contributions Taylor will make in the area of reporting on news pertaining to the citizens of Inglewood and the adjacent communities served by INGLEWOOD TODAY.  His broad news focus will include the City of Inglewood, business and economic development, jobs and employment, health, real estate, and community and human interest stories, to name a few.

If you have a story that you feel would be of interest to INGLEWOOD TODAY subscribers and readers, please contact Taylor by email at If you have an urgent news story, you may reach him by phone or text at 31/874-9747.  The deadline for news submissions is Monday at 5:00 pm for publication consideration the following Thursday.
