Multiplication Nation Workshop
Investment In Your Child: The Crash Course Model - This four session workshop will cover the following multiplication tables 6,7,8,9 as children don’t usually have trouble with 1-5, and 10 times tables. Students take a pre and post test for each table covered. These assessments allow all parties involved (i.e. instructor, parent, student) to monitor progress. Students will learn to multiply using the skip counting methodology. There are two sessions to choose from for grades 1-6. For more info call Megan 310.266.3484.

National Lifeguard Championships
The United States Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championships will see more than 1,000 lifeguards and junior lifeguards from across the country, compete for individual and team honors, at Huntington State Beach. Professional Lifeguards ranging in age from 17 to 75 years-old and Junior Lifeguards from ages 9-17 will be competing in water and beach course events. The three-day competition, hosted by the Huntington State Beach Lifeguard Association (HSBLA), will be held at Huntington State Beach at Beach Blvd. and Pacific Coast Highway and admission is free. The Leadership Institute
The Tavis Smiley Foundation's Leadership Institute brings together outstanding young teens for five days of training on what matters most to young leaders who want to positively impact the world. Teens, age 13-18, are invited to apply. Selection is based on an essay, letter of recommendation and community service. The Leadership Institute is managed by the foundation's National Youth Advisory Council and includes workshops and sessions focused on individual leadership skill development, project planning and community activism.. Free Summer Concerts
The Manhattan Beach Concerts in the Park series is an annual, summer-long event held each year at Polliwog Park. It runs through Labor Day weekend and has featured such artists as the Doo-Wah Riders and Lisa Haley and the Zydekats, as well as a host of other talented musicians. These performances are open seating and free to the public. There are no dogs, barbecues, or wheeled vehicles at any time in the concert area. Your cooperation to keep our parks clean is appreciated. Water Recycling Facility Tour
West Basin Municipal Water District is showing its Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility to the public! Come see how the facility takes wastewater and turns it into near-distilled quality water in 20 minutes. The FREE tours take place every second Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. The facility is located at 1935 S. Hughes Way (near Sepulveda) in El Segundo.
