Senator Roderick D. Wright (D-Inglewood) honored 28
local women at a luncheon last week at Ports Of Call
Restaurant in San Pedro.
The "Women of Distinction" in the 25th Senate
District women have excelled in every field of endeavor from education
and elected office to community activism and philanthropy. They were
recognized individually by Senator Wright and presented with a Senate Resolution.
     It is women like these who have made tremendous
sacrifices and contributions to our communities throughout history. They
are proof that one woman can change the lives of many and make an enormous
difference in our neighborhoods, said Senator Wright.
     The diverse group of women were nominated by
various elected officials, community leaders and organizations throughout
the 25th District, which include Inglewood, Ladera Heights, Hawthorne,
Lawndale, Palos Verdes Peninsula, San Pedro, Westchester, Gardena, Alondra
Park, Athens, Compton, Florence-Graham, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Watts,
Westmont, and Willowbrook.
     I am proud to recognize some of my district's most dedicated volunteers.
They have truly given back.
