Inglewood’s 27th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Day Celebration
The City of Inglewood will kick-off its King Day celebration with a rousing ecumenical service at 9:00 a.m. in The Tabernacle of Faithful

Central Bible Church located at 321 N. Eucalyptus Avenue. (See page ?? for more details.) Marchers will leave The Tabernacle at 11:00 a.m.

and will travel south on Eucalyptus Avenue; head east on Regent Street; and south on Prairie Avenue to Hollywood Park where the

celebration will continue at the King Day Family Festival. The festival will run from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and include live

entertainment, food, arts, crafts, commercial vendors, and interactive games.  Free shuttle service will be available for March

participants.  Individuals participating in the March may park their cars at Hollywood Park Racetrack (Gate 8 – Pincay Drive (90th Street)

entrance) prior to the ecumenical service.  The shuttle will transport marchers from Hollywood Park to The Tabernacle beginning at 7:45

Bright Stars Poetry Contest
In Celebration of Bright Stars Reading Club’s 6th Anniversary, we are offering a fantastic opportunity for young poets to “shine” with the

Theme: Reading Is Fun! We are looking for the most creative original poems that are based on our theme. Grades categories: 1st - 2nd / 3rd

- 4th / 5th - 6th.  Rules: All poems MUST rhyme and address the theme. All poems must be the original work of the poet. Poems may not

exceed one 8 ½” X 11” page, neatly written or typed (no smaller than 12 font). Each 1st place winner must be prepared to read poem orally

on February 6, 2010. All poems MUST be submitted to Bright Stars Center no later than January 27, 2010 and becomes the property of the

Bright Stars Reading Club and Enrichment Center. Eligibility: This contest is open to all children in grades 1st-6th who attend public,

private, and charter schools in the greater Los Angeles area.  Other restrictions may apply. Winners will be announced and awards
