Lennox Little League Wins

The tournament included 11 Little Leagues: Lennox, Inglewood, Marina del Rey, Westchester, Ladera, Aviation, Holly Park, Sportsman, Lawndale, Tri Park and Wiseburn. The LLL Dodgers battled through the tournament going undefeated for four games straight until they confronted last year's champs, the Holly Park Yankees, on June 26. The final game of the tournament took place on June 27 as the LLL Dodgers came out victorious over the Yankees with a 3-2 victory.
"I think it's great that these kids are participating in organized sports. Not only is it good for the physical and health aspect, but for the qualities that they inherit. Qualities that help build character such as courage, loyalty, discipline, team work and determination" said Assemblyman Jerome Horton.
Each player was awarded a certificate during a June 29 ceremony recognizing their accomplishment. The Dodgers were led by manager Roberto Aguirre, coaches Jorge Garcia and Alex Zamora. "These three gentlemen ran a tight ship, they are great role models for their players and throughout the community" said Assemblyman Horton.
Manager Aguirre expressed his respect for the Holly Park organization and thanked all of the tournament organizers for their hard work. "I'm so proud of my players and it was great to see half of Lennox out here supporting us" said Manager Aguirre as he remembered the packed bleachers of fans along with those standing up and down the field's fences.
The Dodgers dedicated their championship victory to Victor Limon, a LLL coach that lost his fight with cancer. Throughout the season the Dodgers uniform included a black patch in the shape of home plate with Coach Limon's initials to commemorate his dedication and leadership.
